Our Ofsted URN: 106301
Bradford Pre-school is set in Bradford Village Hall, next to Bradford Primary School, Holemoor, Bradford, Holsworthy, Devon EX22 7AB.
Our pre-school sessions run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays - 9am - 3.30pm; term-time only. From Autumn Term 2016 - the price is £3.75 for 2 year olds, until they are entitled to funding (the term after they turn 3); and £4.00 for older children not using their funding with us or having extra sessions over their entitlement.
The pre-school has a purpose-built room within the village hall that leads onto an adjoining garden/play area, as well of sole use of the integral toilets and a storage area. The building was newly constructed in 2000 and is designed on one level, with no steps, providing appropriate disabled access.
In addition to the dedicated pre-school room, we have access to a fully fitted catering kitchen and a meet and greet room that doubles as a separate learning space. We also have use of the large main hall, providing plentiful space in which our children can engage in physical play, even if the weather is too bad to go outside.
The all-weather outside area is large and secure with a variety of different surfaces to explore. There is a playhouse and a large sand pit, as well as raised flower beds that are used for growing herbs, flowers and vegetables. We were awarded generous grants from the Big Lottery Fund and Sport Relief in 2014, which meant that we were able to give our outside area a fantastic makeover. Our garden now includes a safe rubberised play surface and educational playground markings, enabling the children to play and learn outdoors all year round. We were also able to purchase a great collection of new indoor and outdoor resources.
As well as meeting the legal requirements of the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, we enrich our children’s learning by including elements of Montessori education, and as well as holding recommended qualifications in Childcare and Children’s Learning and Development, our staff includes a qualified Forest Schools Leader. Because of our small size, children benefit from an excellent adult to child ratio and all staff get to know each child well, enabling a caring atmosphere in which children are able to thrive and move towards their Early Learning Goals, in preparation for starting school.
All of this means that we provide a friendly, secure, stimulating and fun environment for children, from their second birthday until the time they start at school.
